Nae Sasaki

About the artist

After graduating from art school, I worked for over a decade as a lacquer artisan at a cultural property restoration company. I resigned in 2019 to devote myself to my work as an artist.

Merging the experience gained from wood carving, which I have continued since my university days, with the restoration of temples and shrines, I use traditional techniques to reinterpret classical motifs from both Eastern and Western perspectives in a contemporary context.
